Assistant Housekeeping Manager

About the role

The Assistant Housekeeping Manager is responsible for delivering a premium guest experience in staterooms aboard a cruise ship. Working closely with the Housekeeping Director, this role coordinates, schedules, and oversees the daily activities of stateroom attendants and ensures that all housekeeping operations meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and service.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate, schedule, and supervise day‑to‑day housekeeping activities for staterooms, public areas, and open decks.
• Direct, coach, support, and evaluate the performance of housekeeping staff in partnership with the Housekeeping Director.
• Assign duties, workstations, and responsibilities to team members and monitor compliance.
• Conduct ten stateroom inspections daily plus additional checks during embarkation to ensure standards are met.
• Manage overtime requests, inventory of linen and amenities, and cost‑containment initiatives.
• Maintain sanitation, SQM, and safety logs in line with ISM/ISO, USPH, and environmental policies.
• Respond to guest concerns promptly, ensuring resolution to guest satisfaction.
• Oversee on‑the‑job training, cross‑training, and mentorship programs for new hires and existing staff.
• Prepare requisitions and purchase estimates for supplies and equipment.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising housekeeping teams, preferably in a cruise or hospitality environment.
• Strong knowledge of ISM/ISO standards, USPH guidelines, and safety/quality management procedures.
• Excellent communication and guest‑service skills, with the ability to handle complaints empathetically.
• Organizational ability to manage schedules, inventories, and documentation accurately.
• Leadership qualities to mentor, motivate, and develop staff for future advancement.
