Night Housekeeper

About the role

The Night Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining high‑quality cleaning standards and ensuring smooth operation of housekeeping, room service, and laundry throughout the night on a cruise vessel. Working closely with the Chief Housekeeper, this role oversees night‑time guest services and supports the overall guest experience.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Housekeeper in managing night‑time housekeeping operations and supervise night butlers, utilities, and laundry staff.
• Conduct regular patrols of all ship areas, identify issues, and follow up to maintain standards.
• Handle guest orders promptly and update the Guest Recovery Log with any improvements.
• Monitor guest satisfaction, review comment cards, and act on feedback to improve ratings.
• Perform random checks in public areas, cabins, and laundry facilities; compile daily handover reports for management.
• Maintain equitable work schedules, track attendance via the Time and Attendance system, and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Organise and lead training sessions for night staff and oversee induction of new crew members.
• Prepare cruise reports, manage complaint logs, and liaise with the HR Manager on personnel matters.
• Conduct equipment inspections, update maintenance logs, and ensure compliance with public health standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in housekeeping supervision, preferably in a hospitality or cruise‑ship environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve operational issues quickly.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with crew and management.
• Commitment to guest satisfaction and ability to handle guest feedback professionally.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage administrative records accurately.
• Leadership qualities with experience in training and developing staff.
