Senior Accountant – Vacation Rental Portfolio (Remote)

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with direct vacation‑rental industry expertise to lead client onboarding and optimize accounting workflows for short‑term rental businesses. This fully remote position plays a critical role in scaling our specialized accounting services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead client onboarding, setting up accounting systems and ensuring accurate data migration.
• Customize and streamline accounting workflows for each vacation‑rental client.
• Prepare, review, and close month‑end financial statements, reconciliations, and owner reports.
• Work with vacation‑rental platforms such as property‑management systems (PMS), channel managers, and trust‑accounting tools.
• Maintain compliance with industry‑specific accounting standards and best practices.
• Identify process improvements and implement scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with internal teams to enhance efficiency and client experience.
• Serve as the subject‑matter expert for vacation‑rental accounting.

Required profile

• 5+ years of senior‑level accounting experience, preferably in the vacation‑rental sector.
• Proven experience with trust accounting, owner statements, and property‑level reporting.
• Demonstrated success onboarding new clients and configuring accounting systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to work independently in a remote environment.
