Accountant – Real Estate Experience (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented accountant with solid real‑estate experience to join Howard Financial’s back‑office team. Working as an independent contractor, you will support multiple high‑growth clients, delivering accurate financial reporting and analysis on a remote basis.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle accounting for several clients, including accounts payable/receivable, bank and credit‑card reconciliations, and month‑end close.
• Prepare, review and analyze monthly financial statements, management reports, budgets and cash‑flow forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and relevant regulations, addressing discrepancies proactively.
• Perform job costing, project accounting and budget‑to‑actual analysis as required.
• Support tax compliance by preparing documentation, coordinating with external tax advisors and assisting with audit requests.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with client stakeholders, providing insights to improve financial operations.
• Identify and implement process improvements and internal controls to enhance accuracy and scalability.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, with proven real‑estate industry exposure.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and U.S. GAAP.
• Fluent English (B2+), able to communicate confidently with high‑profile clients.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, growth‑focused environment.
• Availability 9 AM–5 PM EST, Monday to Friday.
