About the role
Howard Financial is seeking a detail‑oriented accountant with real‑estate experience to join its growing back‑office team. You will work remotely as an independent contractor, providing full‑cycle accounting and reporting for multiple high‑growth clients.
Key responsibilities
- Manage full‑cycle accounting for several clients, including AP/AR, bank and credit‑card reconciliations, and month‑end close.
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements, management reports, budgets, and cash‑flow forecasts.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and relevant regulations, addressing discrepancies proactively.
- Perform job costing, project accounting, and budget‑to‑actual analysis as required.
- Support tax compliance by preparing documentation, coordinating with external tax advisors, and assisting with audit requests.
- Build strong relationships with client stakeholders and internal teams, offering insights to improve financial operations.
- Identify and implement process improvements and internal controls to boost accuracy and scalability.
Required profile
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, specifically in the real‑estate sector.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles.
- Fluent English (B2+), able to communicate confidently with high‑profile clients.
- Available 9 AM–5 PM EST, Monday to Friday.
- Independent contractor mindset with a growth‑oriented attitude.
