Financial Sector (Senior) Specialist

About the role

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is seeking a strategic, client‑oriented Senior Specialist to support its financial‑sector dialogue and operational program in Ecuador. The role will involve designing, preparing, supervising, and implementing sovereign‑guaranteed operations, technical‑cooperation programs, and reforms that promote inclusive and sustainable finance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead or contribute to the identification, preparation, and supervision of sovereign‑guaranteed loans, guarantees, investment‑grant, and technical‑cooperation operations in Ecuador.
• Support implementation and supervision of ongoing operations, resolve bottlenecks, and strengthen execution capacity.
• Consolidate and analyze portfolio data, produce impact briefs, donor reports, and inputs for operational decisions.
• Maintain continuous dialogue with ministries, central bank, public development banks, and financial regulators.
• Build and manage strategic partnerships with multilateral, bilateral, and private‑sector counterparts to mobilize grants or co‑financing.
• Contribute to country strategy execution, identify operational opportunities aligned with Ecuador’s priorities, and support the knowledge agenda.
• Participate in technical discussions, workshops, and strategic meetings, coordinating closely with the Ecuador Country Office, IDB Invest, IDB Lab, and sector teams.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in economics, finance, public administration, law, or a related field.
• Significant experience in financial‑sector operations, sovereign‑guaranteed financing, or technical‑cooperation programs, preferably in Latin America.
• Proven ability to engage with government counterparts and multilateral partners.
