Laundry Manager (Shipboard)

About the role

The Laundry Manager oversees the daily operation of the shipboard laundry facility, ensuring efficient processing of all linen, uniforms and guest items. Reporting to the Executive Housekeeper, the role combines technical oversight with guest‑service coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise washing, ironing, dry‑cleaning and storage of all laundry products.
• Ensure all laundry equipment is operational; coordinate repairs with the Executive Housekeeper and First Engineer.
• Inspect dryers daily for lint buildup and correct temperature settings.
• Coordinate sorting of linen from all ship divisions, guaranteeing items are free of debris and correctly color‑sorted.
• Monitor quality at each stage of the cycle and enforce quality controls.
• Schedule and oversee distribution of clean linen to staterooms, crew cabins, F&B areas, spa, pool and cruise‑division venues.
• Work with the Cruise Division to meet costume and theatrical laundry deadlines.
• Set washing formulas and cycles; collaborate with Ecolab representatives for machine calibration.
• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of work areas and equipment.
• Submit daily inspection reports and manage chemical supply requisitions within budget.

• Technical proficiency with laundry equipment and processes.
• Ability to assess methods, follow detailed instructions and apply common sense.
• Strong judgment for corrective actions and problem resolution involving guests.
• Effective coordination with multiple ship divisions and senior supervisors.
