Assistant Housekeeping Manager

About the role

The Assistant Housekeeping Manager ensures a premium guest experience in staterooms by coordinating and overseeing the work of Stateroom Attendants. Reporting to the Housekeeping Director, this role blends operational leadership with guest‑focused service on a cruise ship.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate, schedule and supervise daily housekeeping activities for staterooms, public areas and open decks.
• Direct, coach, support and evaluate the performance of housekeeping staff in partnership with the Housekeeping Director.
• Assign duties, manage workstations and ensure compliance with ISM/ISO, SQM, USPH, environmental and safety standards.
• Conduct ten stateroom inspections daily and additional checks during embarkation.
• Handle guest concerns professionally, following up to achieve satisfaction.
• Maintain sanitation and SQM logs, perform monthly inventories of linen and amenities.
• Oversee on‑the‑job training for new hires and cross‑training programs.
• Prepare requisitions, monitor cost containment and ensure proper storage of supplies.

Required profile

• Experience in housekeeping supervision, preferably in a cruise or hotel environment.
• Strong knowledge of maritime safety, quality and public health standards.
• Ability to lead, mentor and evaluate a diverse team.
• Excellent communication skills for guest interaction and staff coordination.
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high service standards.
