Software Engineer – Kubernetes Core (Remote)

About the role

As a Software Engineer focused on Kubernetes Core, you will work directly on the upstream Kubernetes codebase, shaping the core components that power container orchestration. You will collaborate with the open‑source community to design and implement next‑generation features while ensuring the platform remains stable and performant.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain core Kubernetes components such as the API server, scheduler, and controller manager using Go.
• Contribute to Special Interest Groups (SIGs) to drive architectural improvements and new feature development.
• Implement and optimize low‑level interfaces, including the Container Runtime Interface (CRI) and Container Network Interface (CNI).
• Review community pull requests, participate in upstream technical discussions, and propose design changes.
• Debug and resolve complex distributed‑system issues within the core orchestration layer.
• Ensure stability and performance of the Kubernetes ecosystem through rigorous testing and collaboration.

Required profile

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on systems programming.
• Advanced proficiency in Go (Golang) and experience building large‑scale distributed systems.
• Proven track record of contributing to the Kubernetes codebase or other CNCF projects.
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes internals, including the API server, scheduler, and controllers.
• Expertise in low‑level container technologies such as CRI, CNI, and OCI runtimes.
• Advanced proficiency in English.
