Software Engineer

About the role

A Software Engineer applies a systematic approach to the development, delivery, maintenance, and operation of software products and services. This role collaborates across the business to understand customer needs and develop high‑value solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Participate actively in all SDLC activities such as planning, stand‑up, and story time.
• Develop using Test‑Driven Development (TDD) and Continuous Integration (CI) practices.
• Complete small tasks independently as an individual contributor.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Product Owners, QA, Experience Design, and other technical staff to refine requirements and designs.
• Work on cross‑functional teams to deliver solutions from inception through customer delivery.
• Improve processes, standards and practices.
• Pair program effectively with junior and senior developers.
• Develop code consistent with Sovos coding standards and conventions.
• Build expertise in at least one technical area such as Database, SAP, or Web Development.
• Triage and resolve simple engineering escalations and troubleshoot issues within the area of expertise.

Required profile

• BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• 6‑12 months of software engineering experience.
• Ability to interact effectively with teammates, colleagues and customers.
