Programme Officer (NO-1) – Temporary Assignment in Quito

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Programme Officer (NO-1) on a temporary 364‑day assignment to support its programme team in Quito, Ecuador. The role focuses on strengthening territorial interventions, improving results for children and vulnerable communities, and ensuring effective programme management and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Manage knowledge resources and documentation for programmes.
• Develop, plan, and oversee programme design and implementation.
• Ensure optimum use of programme funds and monitor financial performance.
• Conduct programme monitoring, evaluations, and progress reporting.
• Apply rights‑based and results‑based approaches to programme management.
• Build national and local capacity for sustainable outcomes.
• Advocate for child rights at national, community, and family levels.
• Coordinate partnerships, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement.
• Monitor territorial interventions and the performance of implementing partners.

Required profile

• First‑level university degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Government, Public Administration, Public Policy, Social Policy, Public Health, Social Development, Community Development, or a related field.
• Minimum of one year of relevant professional experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work with rights‑based and results‑based programming approaches.
