Principal Software Engineer - Product Platforms

About the role

AlphaSense is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to design and own API‑first product platforms that power multiple internal products, external integrations, and AI‑driven workflows. You will work hands‑on with code while shaping the technical direction of shared services across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Define, build, and evolve high‑scale, reliable APIs used by internal teams, external customers, and intelligent agents.
• Lead the creation of agentic workflows, including orchestration, state management, and tooling.
• Establish API standards, design principles, and best‑practice guidelines through code reviews and technical leadership.
• Collaborate with Product, Platform, and SRE teams to ensure APIs are observable, secure, and performant.
• Identify systemic technical risks and implement solutions that accelerate development velocity.
• Mentor senior engineers and raise the technical bar through example.

Required profile

• Extensive experience designing and delivering large‑scale API products.
• Proven ability to solve ambiguous, cross‑team technical challenges.
• Strong communication skills to partner with product and operations stakeholders.
• Track record of influencing technical direction without formal people‑management authority.
