National Migration Health Physician – Quito

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a National Migration Health Physician to lead daily operations of the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Quito, Ecuador. Reporting to the Chief of Mission and the Chief Migration Health Officer, the physician will ensure that health assessments meet the technical requirements of resettlement countries and support safe migration.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the MHAC’s daily operations, coordinating medical examinations, imaging, laboratory testing, vaccinations, and TB management.
• Conduct comprehensive health assessments, record accurate information, and issue required certifications.
• Provide treatment for TB, sexually transmitted infections, and support HIV counseling activities.
• Manage immunization and presumptive treatment programmes in line with resettlement country protocols.
• Assess medical feasibility of return migration and provide travel health support.
• Supervise, train, and monitor staff delivering health services.

Required profile

• Medical degree with valid license to practice.
• Experience in migration health, public health, or similar settings.
• Strong knowledge of TB management, vaccination protocols, and infectious disease treatment.
• Ability to work in multicultural environments and coordinate with international partners.
