Intermediate Geotechnical Civil Engineer

About the role

KCB is seeking an Intermediate Geotechnical Civil Engineer to support a diverse portfolio of mining, geotechnical, hydrotechnical, and civil infrastructure projects across Latin America and internationally. The role involves delivering geotechnical investigations, engineering analyses, design studies, risk assessments, and technical reports while providing technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical analyses such as slope stability, seepage, settlement, consolidation, and earthworks assessments.
• Design and evaluate tailings storage facilities, heap leach pads, waste rock dumps, embankments, and channels.
• Plan and supervise field investigations, drilling programs, and laboratory testing campaigns.
• Interpret field and laboratory data, instrumentation results, and monitoring programs.
• Prepare and review engineering calculations, technical reports, design drawings, and specifications.
• Develop geotechnical and hydraulic models using industry‑standard software.
• Coordinate technical activities with multidisciplinary teams including Water Resources, Environmental, Mining, and CAD/GIS groups.
• Provide technical guidance and review the work of junior engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in geotechnical, mining, or civil engineering projects.
• Strong knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles and design.
• Intermediate English proficiency; Portuguese is an asset.

• AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Global Mapper and Google Earth.
• Rocscience, FLAC, Plaxis, Muck3D (or similar software).
• Microsoft Office and MS Project.
