Economic Opportunities Advisory Consultant

About the role

IDB Invest is seeking a dynamic Economic Opportunities Advisory Consultant to drive the implementation of its MSME and Poverty Alleviation Roadmaps. The consultant will work within the Economic Opportunities Division to deliver high‑impact advisory services that expand market reach, strengthen value chains, develop inclusive talent, and accelerate digital adoption for private‑sector clients across Latin America and the Caribbean.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and scope new advisory opportunities that add value to IDB Invest’s clients and portfolio.
• Lead or support the structuring of advisory engagements, including client proposals, concept notes, and implementation plans.
• Assist clients in reaching excluded or underserved market segments and unlocking new revenue streams.
• Enable MSME integration into resilient, diversified value chains to promote sustainable growth.
• Support the development of inclusive, skilled workforces aligned with evolving market needs.
• Help clients build inclusive business practices that enhance stakeholder trust and long‑term sustainability.
• Promote digital solutions that improve MSME productivity, financial health, and market access.
• Contribute to the institutionalization of the Social Opportunities Analysis framework, providing strategic inputs to investment teams and refining tools, methodologies, and workflows.

Required profile

• Strategic, results‑driven professional with experience in economic development, MSME support, or poverty alleviation.
• Strong analytical abilities and familiarity with private‑sector advisory processes.
• Excellent communication skills to engage with clients, industry partners, and internal teams.
• Ability to work collaboratively across geographic regions and industry verticals.
