Directional Drilling Engineer – Francisco de Orellana, Ecuador

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Directional Drilling Engineer to join our team in Francisco de Orellana, Ecuador. The role involves on‑site supervision of Measurement‑While‑Drilling (MWD), Logging‑While‑Drilling (LWD) and Directional Drilling (DD) operations, ensuring high‑quality data delivery to our customers.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise MWD/LWD and DD processes, including tool preparation, data acquisition, and service delivery.
• Test all tools and equipment before, during, and after each job to guarantee performance.
• Assemble Bottom Hole Assemblies (BHA) according to specifications, managing torque, doping, and handling.
• Prepare and submit required forms, vouchers, equipment loss reports, radiation site surveys, and end‑of‑job customer surveys.
• Collaborate with Remote Drilling Coordinators and Directional Drillers to verify BHA compatibility and operating parameters.
• Identify potential data issues, provide technical consultation, and support performance‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Engineering or STEM undergraduate degree.
• 4–5 years of field experience in LWD and DD operations, preferably as an FSS.
• Completion of basic MWD/LWD and DD training programs.
• Intermediate proficiency in English.
• Willingness to relocate to Francisco de Orellana.
