COBOL Developer – Remote Work

About the role

We are looking for an experienced COBOL Developer to maintain and modernize mission‑critical applications on IBM mainframe systems. The role is fully remote and offers the chance to work on high‑impact projects for global clients.

Key responsibilities

• Design, code, test, and debug COBOL programs for batch and CICS online processing.
• Maintain and optimize data access using DB2, VSAM, and JCL to ensure performance and integrity.
• Analyze legacy code and documentation to identify modernization and refactoring opportunities.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate mainframe applications with cloud‑native architectures.
• Provide production support, including root‑cause analysis and remediation for mission‑critical systems.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies to deliver high‑quality software updates.

Required profile

• 4+ years of software engineering experience in mainframe environments.
• Proven expertise with COBOL, CICS, and DB2.
• Strong proficiency in JCL, VSAM, and batch/online processing.
• Hands‑on experience on IBM mainframes within banking, insurance, or government sectors.
• Experience modernizing legacy COBOL applications.
• Advanced proficiency in English.
