Backend & Services Engineer

About the role

Plan A Technologies seeks a highly skilled Backend & Services Engineer to design, build, and maintain the systems that connect our customer‑facing portal with core translation engines. This pure backend position focuses on high‑performance service architecture, data pipelines, and system reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and maintain microservices linking the portal to downstream translator services.
• Design low‑latency API layers (REST and gRPC) for intensive data processing.
• Administer specialized data stores, including time‑series logs, high‑performance caches, and vector databases.
• Own the deployment lifecycle: write Dockerfiles, configure Caddy reverse proxies, manage AWS resources, and automate with Makefiles and shell scripts.
• Integrate and manage Metabase for system health, performance, and usage monitoring.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience as a Backend Engineer building scalable backend systems and APIs.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Golang and C# for high‑concurrency services.
• Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript (Node.js) and Python for backend tooling and automation.
• Solid understanding of containerization (Docker, multi‑stage builds, Docker Compose) and cloud infrastructure (AWS).
