Senior Elixir Engineer – Remote

About the role

As a Senior Elixir Engineer you will design and build high‑performance, real‑time backend services using Elixir and the Phoenix framework. You will work remotely with a global team of top‑tier engineers, delivering scalable solutions for high‑traffic applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop robust backend services and APIs with Elixir, Phoenix, and Ecto.
• Implement real‑time, high‑concurrency features using LiveView, GenServers, and OTP patterns.
• Architect and optimise PostgreSQL database schemas and complex queries.
• Ensure system reliability and fault tolerance through Erlang/OTP supervision trees.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate product requirements into clean, maintainable code.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to uphold high engineering standards.

Required profile

• 4+ years of software engineering experience, specifically with Elixir and Phoenix.
• Proven expertise in building real‑time, concurrent backends using OTP patterns and GenServers.
• Deep understanding of functional programming principles and data modelling with Ecto and PostgreSQL.
• Experience developing interactive web applications with Phoenix LiveView.
• Strong background in designing scalable, fault‑tolerant distributed systems.
• Advanced proficiency in English.
