About the role

Sumare is looking for an experienced cook to join its kitchen team in Quito. You will be responsible for preparing ingredients, cooking dishes, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment during service.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mise en place: wash, cut, chop, and organize ingredients before service.
• Prepare base sauces, stocks, and pre‑portioned portions.
• Check food freshness and manage inventory in the cold room.
• Cook using grilling, frying, boiling, and baking techniques while controlling time and temperature.
• Season and taste dishes, then plate them attractively and hygienically.
• Maintain a clean and disinfected workstation, store products according to food‑safety standards, and clean utensils, boards, ovens, and surfaces after each shift.
• Coordinate orders and timing with kitchen and floor staff, and report shortages or equipment issues to the chef.

Required profile

• Minimum education: high school diploma (Bachillerato).
• At least 1 year of professional cooking experience.
• Spanish language proficiency.
• Age between 18 and 30 years.
• Knowledge of food hygiene, culinary techniques, and kitchen operations.
