Software Engineer

About the role

A Software Engineer in Product Development applies a systematic approach to design, develop, deliver, maintain and operate software products and services. The role collaborates across the business to understand customer needs and create high‑value solutions while adhering to Sovos coding standards.

Key responsibilities

• Participate actively in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) and major activities such as planning, stand‑up, and story time.
• Develop code using test‑driven development (TDD) and continuous integration (CI) practices.
• Work with product managers, owners, QA, experience design and other technical staff to refine requirements and designs.
• Deliver solutions from inception through customer delivery, including troubleshooting and resolving simple engineering escalations.
• Pair program with junior and senior developers and contribute to improving processes, standards and practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
• 6‑12 months of relevant software engineering experience.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with teammates, colleagues and customers.
• Willingness to travel minimally to Sovos locations and events.

Required skills

• Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) knowledge.
• Test‑Driven Development (TDD) and Continuous Integration (CI) practices.
• Experience with databases, SAP or web development technologies.
