Service Technician – 4-Stroke Engine Overhaul

About the role

Wärtsilä Energy is looking for a Service Technician specialised in 4‑stroke engines to join its Field Service Mechanical Team. The role focuses on performing complete overhauls of Wärtsilä 4‑stroke power units, ensuring they meet the highest standards of performance and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Execute full engine overhauls, including disassembly, inspection, cleaning, re‑assembly and testing.
• Perform rigging and lifting operations for heavy engine components safely and efficiently.
• Take precise measurements using micrometers, calipers and other high‑accuracy tools.
• Carry out mechanical cleaning of engine parts with approved methods and equipment.
• Document work performed and communicate technical findings in English.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience with 4‑stroke engine systems and field service operations.
• Basic proficiency in English (minimum A2 level) for technical communication.
• Ability to work on‑site in demanding environments, preferably within oil & gas sectors.
• Willingness to comply with security checks as required by Wärtsilä policy.

Required skills

• Rigging and lifting operations for engine components.
• Precision measurement using micrometers and calipers.
• Mechanical cleaning techniques for engine parts.
• Use of hand tools for disassembly and re‑assembly.
• Fundamental knowledge of 4‑stroke engine architecture.
• High‑level welding (structural and precision) – preferred.
