Senior Data Engineer

About the role

MDVIP’s Analytics team is seeking a Senior Data Engineer who will act as a hybrid technical product owner. You will build and operate the data platform on Azure Databricks while partnering directly with business stakeholders to translate real‑world problems into data solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain the end‑to‑end data platform on Azure Databricks, covering ingestion, transformation, storage, and serving layers.
• Build and manage pipelines connecting Salesforce, SQL Server, Snowflake, third‑party sources, and a cloud‑native payments system.
• Implement quality controls such as validation checks, anomaly detection, lineage tracking, and thorough documentation.
• Write clean, version‑controlled, production‑grade code following software‑engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with physicians, finance, member services, and operations to understand data‑driven decision needs.
• Own the product backlog for your domain, prioritize work by business impact, and deliver iteratively without waiting for a separate product manager.
• Leverage AI tools like Claude Code and agentic development patterns to accelerate pipeline creation, testing, and deployment.

Required profile

• Several years of experience building scalable data platforms in a cloud environment.
• Strong ability to work closely with non‑technical stakeholders and translate business questions into data models.
• Proactive mindset: you seek out requirements, validate them, and own the outcome end‑to‑end.
