Safety Officer – Shrimp Feed Mill Factory Setup

About the role

The Safety Officer will lead the safety function for the new shrimp feed‑mill project in Guayaquil, ensuring compliance with Thai Union’s global “Safety First” philosophy during construction and the start‑up phase. This senior position will drive a proactive safety culture, align with Ecuadorian regulations and support the long‑term safe operation of the facility.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the project’s HSE strategy during construction and pre‑operational stages.
• Ensure full compliance with Ecuadorian labor, industrial safety, environmental and municipal regulations, as well as Thai Union global policies.
• Coordinate regulatory inspections, approvals, certifications and audits for the industrial construction and future feed‑mill operation.
• Design emergency response and crisis management protocols for the construction phase.
• Conduct detailed industrial risk assessments covering dust explosion, boiler systems, pellet and hammer mills, raw material storage, mechanical and electrical equipment, chemical handling, confined spaces, hot‑work permits, noise exposure and fire prevention.
• Develop mitigation plans, standard operating procedures and preventive controls aligned with international best practices.

Required profile

• Senior‑level professional with proven experience in industrial safety and risk management.
• Strong knowledge of Ecuadorian occupational safety, environmental and industrial regulations.
• Ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage contractors in a complex manufacturing environment.
• Excellent communication skills in English; Spanish is a plus.
