Plumbing Design Engineer – Luxury Villas & Boutique Hotels

About the role

Utopia is seeking an experienced Plumbing Design Engineer to lead the design of plumbing, drainage, and water distribution systems for a portfolio of luxury villas and boutique hotels worldwide. Reporting to the MEP Design Manager, you will work remotely alongside architects, interior designers, structural engineers, and client representatives to deliver technically precise and aesthetically integrated solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design plumbing, drainage, supply, and distribution systems that comply with local codes and international standards.
• Lead spatial coordination with architectural and structural models, resolve clashes early, and protect design intent through to technical completion.
• Produce detailed drawings, specifications, and technical documentation using CAD and BIM tools, and guide BIM modelers for consistency.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate systems without compromising spatial or aesthetic quality.
• Perform load calculations and system sizing to ensure optimal performance under all project conditions.
• Oversee equipment selection aligned with sustainability targets and luxury standards.
• Review and approve deliverables from third‑party designers, consultants, and surveyors.
• Participate in value‑engineering discussions to balance cost, quality, and guest experience.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Building Engineering with a focus on plumbing, drainage, pools, or storm drainage.
• 5–10 years of design experience in a consultancy or general contractor environment.
• Proven track record on low‑rise residential and hospitality projects such as private villas, boutique hotels, or resorts.
• Strong communication and presentation skills in professional‑level English.
• Self‑organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage deliverables independently in a remote setting.
