Night Housekeeper

About the role

The Night Housekeeper ensures high‑quality cleaning, smooth housekeeping operations, and excellent guest service throughout the night on a cruise vessel. Working closely with the Chief Housekeeper and Butler Manager, this role oversees night‑time activities, monitors guest satisfaction, and maintains service standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Housekeeper in managing night‑time housekeeping, room service, and laundry operations.
• Patrol all vessel areas, resolve issues promptly, and ensure standards are upheld.
• Handle guest orders quickly and accurately, update the Guest Recovery Log, and monitor guest satisfaction scores.
• Conduct random inspections of public areas, toilets, launderettes, and rooms to verify cleaning standards.
• Prepare daily handover reports for the Chief Housekeeper and Butler Manager, including suite movements.
• Maintain and update the Silver Compass system and other operational logs.
• Supervise work schedules, monitor time‑and‑attendance sign‑in sheets, and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Organise and lead training sessions for night‑time staff, and maintain employee records.
• Prepare cruise reports, manage the complaint log, and liaise with HR on personnel matters.
• Carry out equipment inspections, update maintenance logs, and ensure compliance with public health and company cleaning standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in housekeeping or hospitality, preferably on a cruise ship or hotel.
• Strong supervisory skills with the ability to manage a night‑time team.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to guest satisfaction.
• Ability to handle confidential information and maintain accurate administrative records.
• Good communication skills and a proactive, problem‑solving attitude.

Required skills

• Familiarity with the Silver Compass housekeeping software.
• Experience using a Time and Attendance application.
