Lead Data Scientist

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Data Scientist to spearhead the design and delivery of AI‑powered chatbot solutions for specialized shopping assistant use cases. You will guide a multidisciplinary team, shape the technical roadmap, and ensure the chatbot meets high standards of reliability, ethics, and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with product, analytics, and engineering teams to build and refine a shopping‑assistant chatbot.
• Develop and iterate prompt‑engineering strategies to improve conversational quality.
• Design LLM‑based agents that integrate with APIs, databases, and external tools via function calling.
• Apply model‑evaluation techniques to prevent hallucinations and safeguard reliability.
• Implement A/B testing frameworks to monitor and continuously enhance chatbot performance.
• Enforce Responsible AI and compliance guidelines throughout development.
• Conduct exploratory data analysis to extract insights and define data requirements for engineering.
• Advise cloud engineering on infrastructure needs for AI‑driven solutions.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional data‑science experience.
• At least 1 year of people‑management or team‑lead experience (team of 5+ FTEs).
• Deep expertise with Large Language Models, especially OpenAI APIs on Azure.
• Strong Python programming skills for AI workflow integration and optimization.
• Proven track record building AI agents that use function calling to interact with external systems.
• Familiarity with hallucination‑prevention techniques and Responsible AI best practices.
• Solid background in NLP and Conversational AI development.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher, both written and spoken.
