Lead Data Scientist

About the role

Thoughtworks is looking for a Lead Data Scientist to drive end‑to‑end data science initiatives that create measurable business value. In this senior position you will shape AI strategy, guide cross‑functional teams, and translate complex insights into clear recommendations for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead data science projects from concept to production, defining goals, scope, and delivery timelines.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for AI and machine‑learning solutions.
• Design overall AI system architecture, frame problems, manage governance, and mitigate risks.
• Develop and implement data‑science strategies that deliver quantifiable results.
• Design experiments, evaluate models with quality metrics, and deploy selected models to production.
• Communicate findings concisely, fostering data literacy across the organization.
• Address ethical considerations using FATTER AI principles (fairness, accountability, transparency, trustworthiness, explainability, responsibility).
• Apply CD4ML practices and use data‑versioning tools to ensure reproducibility.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading full‑cycle data‑science projects, from analysis to production deployment.
• Strong background in statistical modeling, hypothesis testing, optimization, and machine‑learning techniques.
• Specialisation in at least one AI domain such as NLP, computer vision, or Generative AI.
• Ability to mentor junior team members and promote a culture of data‑driven decision making.
