Chief Housekeeper

About the role

The Chief Housekeeper leads the entire housekeeping operation on a cruise vessel, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality, personalized butler and cleaning services to guests and crew. This senior position combines operational oversight, guest interaction, and staff management to achieve total guest satisfaction while complying with company policies and public health standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all housekeeping activities across guest suites, public areas, and back‑of‑house spaces.
• Conduct regular walkthroughs of the ship to verify standards and address any issues promptly.
• Interact proactively with guests to identify expectations, respond to requests, and resolve complaints immediately.
• Coordinate with other ship departments to maintain smooth operations and uphold conduct standards.
• Monitor guest satisfaction through comment cards and rating scores, and implement improvements.
• Supervise VIP and suite procedures at embarkation, including random checks of all cabins.
• Maintain and display an equitable in‑port manning schedule for the housekeeping team.
• Handle confidential information and keep accurate employee records, training logs, and corrective actions.
• Prepare cruise reports, manage complaint logs, and control operational costs.
• Liaise with HR on personnel matters, staffing plans, and training needs.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in housekeeping or hospitality, preferably on a cruise ship or large hotel.
• Strong customer‑service orientation with the ability to anticipate and fulfill guest needs.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and maintain high standards of cleanliness and service.
• Commitment to confidentiality and adherence to public health regulations.
