Capital Markets Operational Program Consultant

About the role

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is seeking a Capital Markets Operational Program Consultant to join its Connectivity, Markets, and Finance Division. The consultant will work within the Regulation Focus Group, supporting technical assistance and policy initiatives that strengthen capital market regulation across Latin America and the Caribbean.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the Regional Public Good RG‑T4880 activities to support the IDBpay initiative and other technical cooperations.
• Assist the IFD/CMF team in delivering technical assistance on capital markets, banking, and broader financial sector regulation.
• Provide technical support for drafting loan documents, operational program tasks, and data‑driven policy analysis.
• Collect, process, and analyze data; prepare academic papers and public policy briefs, with preferred knowledge of the Refinitiv platform.
• Develop presentations and roadshow materials for bank products and policy agendas.
• Organize and manage logistics for events, workshops, and network meetings related to IFD/CMF activities.
• Support administrative processes such as consultant hiring, deliverable oversight, and meeting coordination.
• Assist in publishing, translating, and disseminating academic outputs.

Required profile

• Experience in capital markets regulation, financial sector policy, or technical assistance projects.
• Proven ability to collaborate with central banks, financial regulators, and other authorities.
• Strong analytical, research, and data‑processing capabilities.
• Experience in event organization, logistics, and administrative support.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the Refinitiv platform (formerly Reuters).
