Teacher Assistant – Preschool

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Teacher Assistant to support our lead teacher in a preschool setting at Colegio Terranova. The role involves assisting with daily lesson plans, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment, and helping children develop socially and academically.

Key responsibilities

• Support classroom instruction by assisting the lead teacher with daily lesson plans and educational activities.
• Supervise and engage children during classroom work, playtime, meals and outdoor activities to ensure safety.
• Assist with behavior management, reinforcing classroom rules and guiding social‑emotional development.
• Prepare and organize learning materials, resources and displays to facilitate hands‑on learning.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment, sanitizing toys, surfaces and equipment regularly.
• Provide individualized support to children who need extra help or emotional assistance.
• Observe children’s development and report progress or concerns to the lead teacher.
• Support daily routines such as arrivals, departures, toileting, meals and rest time.
• Encourage positive interaction by modelling respectful and inclusive behaviour.
• Collaborate with the lead teacher and other staff to ensure consistent teaching practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent (required).
• Completion of a TKT training course.
• Prior experience working with young children in an educational or care setting (preferred).
• Patience and empathy when responding to children’s needs.
• Strong communication skills with children, teachers and parents.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and follow guidance.
• Good observation skills to recognise developmental milestones or concerns.
• Creativity and enthusiasm to engage children through play and learning.
• Strong organisational skills for managing materials and routines.
• Adaptability to changing schedules and individual child needs.
• Cultural sensitivity and respect for diverse backgrounds.
