Software Engineer (Product Development)

About the role

A Software Engineer in Product Development applies a systematic approach to the development, delivery, maintenance, and operation of software products and services. The role collaborates across the business to understand customer needs and create high‑value solutions while adhering to Sovos coding standards.

Key responsibilities

• Participate actively in all SDLC phases, including planning, stand‑up, and story time.
• Develop code using Test‑Driven Development (TDD) and Continuous Integration (CI) practices.
• Work as an individual contributor on small tasks and pair‑program with junior and senior developers.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Product Owners, QA, Experience Design, and other technical staff to refine requirements and designs.
• Improve processes, standards, and practices and document relevant information.
• Triage and resolve simple engineering escalations and troubleshoot issues within your area of expertise.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
• 6‑12 months of professional software engineering experience.
• Ability to interact effectively with teammates, colleagues and customers, and to communicate complex concepts clearly.
