Software Engineer

About the role

A Software Engineer applies a systematic approach to the development, delivery, maintenance, and operation of software products and services. The role works with cross‑functional teams to understand customer needs and develop high‑value solutions while adhering to established development standards.

Key responsibilities

• Participate actively in all SDLC phases, including planning, stand‑up, and story grooming.
• Develop using Test‑Driven Development (TDD) and Continuous Integration (CI) practices.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Product Owners, QA, Experience Design, and other technical staff to refine requirements and designs.
• Pair program with junior and senior developers and contribute to complex stories and tasks.
• Write code that follows Sovos coding standards and conventions.
• Maintain documentation, triage simple escalations, and troubleshoot issues within your area of expertise.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 6‑12 months of relevant software engineering experience.
• Ability to work independently on small tasks and as part of cross‑functional teams.
• Effective communication of complex concepts to teammates and customers.
