Payroll Coordinator – Latin America

About the role

Wärtsilä is seeking a Payroll Coordinator for its Latin America operations. The role will manage end‑to‑end payroll processes across multiple countries, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely delivery. You will work closely with HR, Finance and external partners to support the company’s mission of enabling sustainable societies.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full payroll cycle for all Latin America entities.
• Review, validate and approve payroll inputs and outputs for accuracy and compliance.
• Monitor and interpret payroll legislation in each country and implement updates.
• Maintain relationships with external payroll providers and ensure standardized processes.
• Handle country‑specific payroll components such as benefits, vacation accruals, pensions and statutory contributions.
• Verify and process payroll deductions and ensure correct accounting.
• Identify and drive process improvements, automation and system optimisation.
• Prepare and analyse payroll reports covering earnings, deductions, taxes, leave and non‑taxable income.
• Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries.
• Develop, maintain and update payroll policies and procedures.
• Implement internal controls and support audit activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing payroll for multiple Latin American countries.
• Strong knowledge of local payroll legislation and statutory requirements.
• Ability to work with external payroll vendors and cross‑functional teams.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Detail‑oriented with a focus on compliance and data integrity.
